obtains Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification
Organic Technologies today announced that it has received Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Chain of Custody certification for its AlaskOmega™ Omega-3 nutritional supplement ingredients that are Caught in Alaska, Refined in Ohio™. The AlaskOmega™ line of concentrated ethyl ester (up to 85% Omega-3s) and reconstituted triglyceride (rTG) products are produced from the liver and viscera oils of wild-caught Bering Sea/Aleutian Islands and Gulf of Alaska pollock (Theragra chalcogramma), a member of the Cod family, Gadidae.
The MSC is a global, independent non-profit organization that operates the world’s leading certification and ecolabel program for environmentally sustainable and well-managed wild-capture fisheries. Currently, there are 129 fisheries around the world that have been independently verified to meet MSC rigorous standards for environmental sustainability. The U.S. Alaska Pollock fishery is the largest fishery in North America and is one of the largest fisheries for human consumption, worldwide.
Organic Technologies says "We believe that sourcing raw oils from MSC-certified 100% US-sourced wild-caught fish for our AlaskOmega™ product line clearly communicates our commitment to provide the nutritional marketplace with a long-chain EPA and DHA Omega-3 ingredient that meets the highest global standards for seafood sustainability.”
